BayCoast Bank Awards Grant For Steppingstone Inc.’s Fall River Men’s Program

Funding supports critical renovations for the program, which offers residential rehabilitation services.

FALL RIVER, SWANSEA, MA  –  In a familiar Fall River, MA neighborhood, there’s a quaint three-story home offering something life-changing: hope, stability, and a path to recovery.

The home, located on North Main Street, is part of Steppingstone Incorporated’s rehabilitation programs, helping to empower individuals as they overcome addiction and embark on a personal journey toward long-term sobriety.

In support of the nonprofit’s mission to strengthen the quality of life for these individuals and their families, Steppingstone Inc. has been awarded a $10,000 grant from BayCoast Bank, to help fund critical renovations at its Fall River Men’s Program (FRMP).

The FRMP provides 23 beds for men living with chronic substance use disorders, offering not just housing, but a sober, supportive, and home-like environment where recovery can begin and grow. The program’s shared bedrooms, living areas, group rooms, staff offices, and bathrooms are essential to daily life.  They are spaces where trust is built and futures are rebuilt.

BayCoast Bank’s investment will help improve these shared spaces, ensuring the facility remains safe, welcoming, and functional for the men who depend on it.

“Recovery starts with dignity,” said John McMahon, Senior Vice President of Community Engagement at BayCoast Bank. “When individuals feel safe and supported in their environment, they’re better able to focus on healing. This grant reflects BayCoast Bank’s commitment to strengthening the communities we serve across the South Coast, and to supporting organizations like Steppingstone that make a real, lasting difference in people’s lives.”

For Steppingstone Inc., the funding represents more than renovations. It’s a reaffirmation of their mission to help people.

“The Fall River Men’s Program is often a turning point for the individuals we serve,” said Kathleen Schedler-Clark, M.Ed., LADCI, ACATA, Executive Director of Steppingstone. “Support from BayCoast Bank helps ensure our residents have a stable, respectful place to focus on recovery and rebuilding their lives.”

As a community bank rooted in the South Coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, BayCoast Bank is proud to support the communities it serves by investing in programs that address critical needs, from housing stability to health and wellness. For those who pass through the doors of the Fall River Men’s Program, this grant will help keep the promise of recovery within reach.
