Frequently Asked Questions
What is an eStatement?

An eStatement is an electronic version of the paper statement (in PDF format) that we will load into your BayCoast Bank online banking. You will have access to it much sooner than you would get a statement from us in the mail. It also is easy for you to view an eStatement in online banking or to download a copy to your computer, which you can print if you ever need to do so. An eStatement protects you from an increasingly occurring crime … mail theft and trash theft. Criminals will often search mailboxes and trash for bank statements to commit identity theft.

I am already enrolled in eStatements. What changed?

The same accounts are enrolled in eStatements as before. What changed is the way you access them. You will access them one account at a time instead of one page with all your account eStatements. The look of the statements is just like the printed version. The check images are even easier to view and print. eStatements no longer pop up another tab or window, it all stays inside our online banking system. You will get an email message from us whenever a new eStatement is ready to view.

When will my eStatements be available to view in online banking?

The eStatement system needs to process the statement files to give them the same look and feel as the mailed paper statements. This means that the eStatement will be available two to four days after the statement cutoff date. This will still be sooner than if you receive it in the mail. You will get an email message from us whenever a new eStatement is ready to view.

How do I enroll for eStatements?

You must be enrolled in online banking. Inside online banking you will find the link for eStatements which will walk you through the simple eStatement enrollment process. You will confirm your email address for notifications, and will need to accept the terms and conditions for eStatements. You will get an email message from us whenever a new eStatement is ready to view.

What about eStatements for loan bills?

That is a new feature of eStatements. Starting with the next bill that you get in the mail, you can enroll in eStatements for loan accounts. After you get your next paper loan statement in the mail, go into online banking and select eStatements for the loan account. You will confirm your email address for notifications, and will need to accept our Terms and Conditions Agreement for eStatements. Depending on the date we print your next bill, you might get one more paper statement. You will get an email message from us when your next eStatement (loan payment notice) is ready to view.

What about eStatements for CD accounts?

Statement CD accounts are eligible for eStatement enrollment after you get a paper statement in the mail. Statement CD accounts get statements issued once per year, as of the last day of the calendar year. After you get your next paper statement in the mail, go into online banking and select eStatements for the Statement CD account. You will confirm your email address for notifications, and will need to accept our Terms and Conditions Agreement for eStatements. CD passbook accounts are not eligible for eStatement.

What if I open a new checking or savings account, or obtain a new loan or mortgage?

If the new account is a statement type of checking or savings account, you can enroll in eStatements the day after you see it appear in online banking. Usually it appears the same day you open the new account. CD accounts are not eligible for eStatement. Loan accounts are available for enrollment once you see it appear in online banking and after you get your first bill in the mail. For both deposit and loan accounts, you will need to accept our Terms and Conditions Agreement for eStatements, and from that point forward you will get your statement electronically.

What if my savings account or overdraft line of credit is combined on my checking account?

You will see your savings account or overdraft line of credit statement as part of your checking account statement each month. You will not be able to enroll in a separate eStatement, if an account is combined with your checking account.

What about passbook accounts, like passbook savings and passbook CDs?

There is no statement for a passbook account. You will see those accounts listed on your eStatements page, but if you select the passbook account a message will remind you that the account cannot have an eStatement. Please call us at 508‐675‐4404 or email us at ecommerce@baycoastbank.com, if you want an existing passbook savings account converted to a statement savings account. Then you can enroll for eStatements. CD passbook accounts can be converted to a Statement CD at renewal.

Why would I want to get an eStatement for loan bills?

This is a great feature to turn on when you have automatic payments for your loan setup. One less piece of paper in the mail to store. The archive of loan statements will continue to accumulate every month, up to a maximum of seven years of statements.

What if I want to go back to getting a paper statement in the mail?

Call us at 508‐675‐4404 or email us at ecommerce@baycoastbank.com and we will convert your account back to a monthly mailed statement.

How will I know when I have a new eStatement?

You will get an email notification from us every time we publish a new statement for your account. It will tell you that you have a new eStatement ready to view for your deposit account (checking, statement savings, and statement CD), or your loan account.

Can I stop the email notifications that happen every time a new eStatement is ready?

Yes, you can stop the email notifications. The setting is separate for every account, so you can stop notifications for a single account while leaving notifications enabled for another account. Go into the eStatement for the account you want to change in Online Banking. Look for the setting in the eStatements section under the “My Profile” tab. Select the Personal Details option and you will see a box to indicate your preference for receipt of notifications. Uncheck the box to stop the emails for the account you selected when going into eStatements. You can go back at any time in the future and check the box should you change your mind and want email notifications to resume.

Can I see statements from the past?

You will be able to view your checking, statement savings, and statement CD statements back to October 2016 in eStatements, with future statements being added to the archive as each month’s statement is published, up to a maximum of 7 years of statements. If you need anything earlier than October 2016 just call us at 508‐675‐4404 or email us at ecommerce@baycoastbank.com and we will send it to you electronically or in the mail. Loan statements history will accumulate from the month you enroll, going forward, up to seven years’ worth of statements.

What about messages and enclosures that I usually get with my paper statements in the mail?

We are making that really easy for you. We will attach those same messages and enclosures to the eStatement that you view in online banking. You will not have to go to a special link or a special tab to view those messages and enclosures.
