A standout feature of the RightStart Account is our Learn2Earn Rewards, where kids can earn cash rewards for completing engaging, age-appropriate financial literacy activities that help strengthen their money knowledge. When a parent opens a RightStart Account in-person at one our BayCoast branch locations, the child will receive their debit card instantly. If a parent chooses to open the account online, the child should receive their debit card within 15 days.

Getting Started
If you’ve just opened your child’s RightStart Account, congratulations on taking the first steps towards helping them achieve financial freedom! Now, let’s get you and your child set up for success by following the easy steps below.
Both the parent and child will need to enroll in Online Banking to create their own separate usernames. To do this, visit baycoast.bank/onlinebanking to establish both Online Banking usernames using the same RightStart account information. (When creating your child’s Online Banking username, enter their social security number in the Driver’s License field.) Once you and your child are registered for Online Banking, download the BayCoast Bank Mobile App and sign in with your separate Online Banking credentials.
Register for Online Banking:
- Visit baycoast.bank/onlinebanking
- Click “Sign Up Now”
- Provide the required information. For your child’s username, use your child’s social security number in the Driver’s License field.
- Accept the Terms and Agreements
- Some applications may need review before granting access
- Once approved, sign in and start using your Account
- Don’t forget to enroll in eStatements! (See below for details & instructions.)
Register for Mobile Banking:
- You will need to sign up for Online Banking before accessing Mobile Banking
- Download the BayCoast Bank Mobile app from your device’s app store
- Log in using your online banking username and password
Setting Up Your Child’s Debit MasterCard® Anytime, Anywhere
- Parents, log into your Online Banking account using your credentials, not your child’s.
- In the navigation bar, find “eStatements & More”
- Click “Card Controls”
- Click “Switch or Add Card”
- Then select “Add a Card”
- Enter your child’s debit card information and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Debit cards will be mailed within two weeks for accounts opened online
Manage Your Child’s Debit MasterCard® Anytime, Anywhere
- To access your child’s debit card controls and alerts, click “eStatements & More” in the navigation bar.
- Click “Card Controls”
- Scroll to the “Manage Card” section to limit transactions by location, merchant type, transaction type, or set spending limits.
- You can also set alerts for specific transactions, reset the PIN, manage travel plans, and view spending insights.
A great feature included with your child’s RightStart Account is the ability for them to earn cash bonuses for completing fun financial activities that teach important money skills that will last a lifetime. The information your child learns today will help prepare them for a future of financial security and independence as they journey into adulthood.
Each year on their birthday, your child will receive new, age-appropriate Learn2Earn financial activities through our nationally recognized education partner, Banzai. Kids can access these activities by logging into their BayCoast Online Banking Account or Mobile Banking app.
To claim their cash reward, kids will need to complete all of the required financial education activities that are assigned based on their age. Once verified, BayCoast Bank will deposit the Learn2Earn reward directly into your child’s RightStart Account, typically within 15 days.

Don’t Forget to Enroll in eStatements!
eStatements (or electronic monthly statements) are online versions of the account statement. They are an eco-friendly way to see what’s going on with the account and can be accessed by logging into Online Banking.
- Parents will need to log into their Online Banking account.
- In the navigation bar, find “eStatements & More,”
- Click “eStatements”
- Choose the RightStart Spending Account and click “Continue.”
- Select “Receive Notifications” for email alerts.
- Click “Next” or “Finish” and accept the Consent and Authorization disclosure.

The Debit MasterCard® issued on this account will be in your child’s name only, but parents can control their child’s debit card in Online and Mobile Banking.
If your child has more than one account with BayCoast Bank, they can move money between accounts. Parents can control all account activity through their Online or Mobile Banking account.

The program is designed for kids aged 6 to 17. When they turn 18, they will be required to switch to a standard checking account. We’re happy to talk about your options anytime!
No overdraft fees will be charged to a RightStart Account. If there’s not enough money in the account to cover a transaction, it may be declined. However, sometimes a payment might still go through based on how it was processed and whether the merchant checked the available balance, which could result in an overdraft.
You can easily move money between accounts using BayCoast Bank’s Online or Mobile Banking app. Once logged in, look for the transfer option, choose the accounts to transfer from and to, enter the amount and confirm the transfer.
Yes, parents can put money into the account in person or they can transfer into the account using their Online or Mobile Banking app.

If your child loses or misplaces their debit card, or it is stolen, you can quickly turn it off using Card Controls in BayCoast’s Online or Mobile Banking. This will prevent unauthorized purchases and allow you to request a replacement card. Alternatively, you can visit any BayCoast Bank branch to cancel the card and receive a replacement instantly.
